Who can enter the PhiloPhoto contest?

PhiloPhoto is open to both amateur and professional photographers from around the world who are 18 years old or older. Organizers and judges are not allowed to participate. Each photographer may submit up to three single images related to the annual theme.

What kind of photos are allowed, and what is not accepted?

The contest accepts original photographs created using photographic techniques, including images taken with a camera or smartphone. However, entries are not eligible if they were created with generative AI tools or Photoshop, or if they include watermarks, explicit or violent content, wildlife harassment, environmental damage, or people photographed without the legally required consent.

What are the file requirements for submission?

Images must be submitted as JPG files in sRGB or Adobe98, 8-bit, with the longest side at 1100 pixels and a maximum file size of 1.5 MB. Images must not include borders, logos, or watermarks. If selected as a winner, the photographer must be able to provide a high-resolution version and may also be asked for the original RAW file to verify ownership.

How much does it cost to enter, and what do winners receive?

The entry fee is USD 22 for one photo, USD 38 for two photos, or USD 45 for three photos. The contest awards three main prizes: USD 1,000 for first place, USD 500 for second place, and USD 200 for third place. Winners also receive recognition such as certificates and online gallery exposure.
